Condition Rarity 1857-D Gold Dollar, AU55
1857-D G$1 AU55 NGC. Variety 9-L, the only one known. The 1857-D is most often seen in Very Fine and Extremely Fine grades. It is rare in About Uncirculated, and extremely rare in Mint State (Douglas Winter, 2003). This Choice AU specimen displays ample luster on yellow-gold surfaces. The design elements exhibits the usual weakness on the top of the bonnet and hair curls, and on portions of the rims.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25CF, PCGS# 7546, GSID# 8077)
