1857 G$1 MS66 NGC. The 1857 gold dollar is an early Type Three issue that is relatively plentiful in grades through MS64. However, higher-grade pieces are rare. This Premium Gem example is among the finest at NGC (5/23). Sharp detail characterizes the wreath and Liberty portrait, while vibrant cartwheel bands rolls through the fields. A few faint surface grazes are seen with a loupe but are not bothersome. Census: 7 in 66, 0 finer (5/23). (Registry values: N1)
