Description

1857 Gold Dollar, MS66
Conditionally Elusive

1857 G$1 MS66 NGC. Traditionally considered a common date, the 1857 gold dollar is surprisingly elusive in mint condition, especially as a Gem, with only eight pieces having been so graded by NGC with only one finer (7/23). This piece has outstanding mint luster that swirls around the surfaces of the coin. There is a considerable presence of rich green-gold color rather than the bright yellow usually seen. An elusive opportunity for the gold collector.(Registry values: N1)
