Description

1857-S Gold Dollar, MS62
Difficult Gold Rush Issue

1857-S G$1 MS62 NGC. Among San Francisco gold dollar issues, only the 1870-S has a lower mintage than the 1857-S. Although late Philadelphia issues often also have low productions, those dates were saved to a much greater extent. The 1857-S is undeniably rare in Uncirculated condition, and is a great value relative to other branch issues of the denomination. This well-struck orange-gold representative displays substantial luster along with a few relatively minor marks. Encased in a circa-2000 holder. Census: 4 in 62, 2 finer (10/23).(Registry values: N4719)
