1858-S G$1 MS62 NGC. An entire collection of S-mint gold dollars needs only seven coins. The San Francisco Mint produced limited quantities of this denomination, almost all prior to the Civil War. In 1858, 10,000 pieces were struck. This MS62 coin is tied with two others as the finest at NGC. NGC in total reports just 100 grading events for this date in all grades combined (10/18). Satiny surfaces have deep, original orange-gold luster and sharply struck design elements. No significant abrasions are seen.(Registry values: N4719)
