1859-C Gold Dollar, XF45
Final C-Mint of the Denomination
1859-C G$1 XF45 PCGS. Variety 1. Just 5,235 pieces were
struck at the Charlotte Mint in of the final year of gold dollar
production at the mint. Most were carelessly struck with little
concern for quality. This Choice XF example shows a strike-through
at 4 o'clock on the obverse rim plus some random raised die lines
nearby. Bright yellow-gold coloration with a pale-green tinge
covers both sides. Actual abrasions are few and the strike is above
average on Liberty's portrait. Housed in an old green label holder.
