Description

Mint State 1859-D Gold Dollar

1859-D G$1 MS61 PCGS. Variety 11-N. Two die varieties are known despite a meager mintage of 4,952 pieces. The other reverse is rare and shows a date position further to the right. This yellow-gold example has a pleasing strike given its Dahlonega origin, though the central reverse shows minor softness. Neither side has any visible marks, and luster is particularly prominent on the legends and motifs. Population: 9 in 61, 16 finer (11/12).(Registry values: N4719)
