Not Sold Description
Very Scarce 1859-D MS 61 Gold Dollar
1859-D MS 61 NGC. Completely lustrous with particular vibrancy on the reverse and medium golden-orange color overall. There is typical bluntness on the plumes, the two center digits of the date, and the base of the wreath. A mostly paper-thin planchet rift begins in the first S in STATES and extends downward, branching into two parallel cracks, the left one being most discernable and ending at the border just below the U in UNITED. The most recent estimates place the number of Mint State '59-D gold dollars around 15-16 coins and, thanks to the Miller Collection, we are pleased to offer two examples.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25CN, PCGS# 7553, GSID# 8082)
