Description

1859-S Gold Dollar, AU58
Lovely Surfaces

1859-S G$1 AU58 PCGS. CAC. The San Francisco Mint struck only 15,000 gold dollars in 1859, and any example grading even in the upper AU range today is scarce, with Uncirculated coins rare. This This AU58 piece is tied for the finest with CAC endorsement. Orange-gold patina shows light wear over the high points of the devices, but ample luster remains in the protected areas of the fields. The coin is thoroughly eye-appealing and of outstanding quality for the issue. A finer piece may be some years in coming. Population: 11 in 58, 11 finer. CAC: 13 in 58, 0 finer (8/25).(Registry values: N1793)
