Popular San Francisco Issue, CAC
1859-S G$1 AU58 PCGS. CAC. Just a trace of friction on the
high points keeps this straw-gold piece from a Mint State
designation. Strongly lustrous and pleasingly preserved otherwise,
this low-mintage issue of only 15,000 pieces has few Uncirculated
survivors. Near-Mint specimens like the current example, especially
when they have approval from CAC, are highly desirable as PCGS
reports only 11 finer (5/25). Population: 11 in 58, 11 finer. CAC:
