1859-S Gold Dollar, MS60
Condition Rarity in Mint State
1859-S G$1 MS60 NGC. The 1859-S is one of the premier
condition rarities in the gold dollar series though it is
under-appreciated as such. With a mintage of only 15,000 pieces,
survivors are relatively scarce in all grades, but they are
especially difficult to locate in AU and Mint State. This
attractive MS60 example displays honey-gold color overall, with
hints of peach and yellow also appearing. The degree of design
detail is pleasing and the lustrous surfaces are lightly abraded
