Not Sold Description
1860-D XF 40 Holed, Plugged, Cleaned. One of the true rarities in the gold dollar series, sporting an original mintage of a mere 1,566 pieces and with fewer than 50 or so existing today in all grades. Unfortunately, this has been used as a jewelry piece, a tiny loop hole drilled and later plugged and re-engraved. Nonetheless, the repair is subtle and professional, and offers the opportunity for a budget-minded bidder to receive a nice looking coin at a reasonable price.
