Description

1862 G$1 MS65 NGC. A faint tinge of rose-gold color enhances the attractive and sharply struck, medium-gold surfaces of this frosty Gem Civil War issue. A large mintage of more than 1.3 million pieces was the last hurrah for the gold dollar series -- thereafter, mintages were greatly reduced. Despite the huge mintage, many coins did not circulate during the war years when they were widely hoarded.
