Description
Gorgeous 1862 Gem Gold Dollar
1862 G$1 MS65 PCGS. With a mintage of more than 1 million coins, the 1862 gold dollar is one of the most common dates of the series. Perusal of the PCGS/NGC population data indicates that several hundred Mint State examples have been certified through MS64. The date becomes somewhat more difficult in MS65 and finer grades. The Gem specimen in this lot displays gorgeous greenish-gold patina residing over scintillating luster, and a well executed strike imparts crisp and even definition over the design elements. The surfaces are minimally marked for an MS65. Population: 69 in 65, 27 finer (8/07).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25CW, PCGS# 7560, GSID# 8024)
