Premium Gem 1862 Gold Dollar
Popular Civil War Date
1862 G$1 MS66 NGC. The 1862 gold dollar was produced in
large numbers, but the issue was hoarded in government vaults, due
to Civil War uncertainty, and only paid out to the public at a
premium. Examples in Premium Gem condition are rare today, and any
finer grade is virtually unobtainable. The present coin is a
spectacular piece, with a razor-sharp strike and vibrant mint
luster. The light peach-gold surfaces are virtually
pristine.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25CW, PCGS# 7560, GSID# 8024)
