1862 G$1 MS 62 NGC. Doubled Die Obverse. FS-001. Previously offered as lot 7476 in our October, 2000 Long Beach Sale where it was described as, "According to Fivaz and Stanton (The Cherry Pickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties), this variety is "...very rare but also not well known." The doubling is evident on most of the letters in STATES OF. The green-gold surfaces are satiny in luster quality with relatively few abrasions for the assigned grade. Nicely struck."
