1862 Gold Dollar, Rare Doubled Die Obverse Variety
1862 G$1 MS 62 NGC. Doubled Die Obverse. FS-001. According to Fivaz and Stanton (The Cherry Pickers' Guide to Rare Die Varieties), this variety is "...very rare but also not well known." The doubling is evident on most of the letters in STATES OF. The green-gold surfaces are satiny in luster quality with relatively few abrasions for the assigned grade.
