Description
Elusive 1865 Gold Dollar, MS61
1865 G$1 MS61 NGC. The 1865 gold dollar touts one of the lowest mintages of the type (3,725 circulation strikes). The date is rare in all grades; indeed, only about 70 examples ranging from XF to Mint State have been seen by NGC and PCGS combined. Partially prooflike fields on this MS61 example yield noticeable contrast with the motifs, especially on the obverse. Well struck, and revealing an even distribution of light handing marks.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25CZ, PCGS# 7564, GSID# 8027)
