Description

1867 Gold Dollar, Sharp and Rare MS66

1867 G$1 MS66 PCGS. The 1867 gold dollar is an elusive issue from a small business-strike mintage of 5,200 pieces. Probably no more than 75-110 examples are extant in all Mint State grades, and circulated specimens are quite scarce as well. The true rarity of this date is generally unappreciated outside of series specialists. High-grade business-strike examples have often been mistaken for proofs in auction descriptions.

The present delightful Premium Gem offers sharply detailed design elements and some interesting clash marks on both sides. The prooflike yellow-gold surfaces are well-preserved and show no large or distracting flaws. Population: 4 in 66, 1 finer (5/15).(Registry values: N4719)
