Description

1868 Gold Dollar, Contrasted MS66
Ex: Harry W. Bass, Jr.

1868 G$1 MS66 PCGS. Ex: Bass. Every bit the "sparkling gem" it was described as in the 1985 Paramount sale, this gleaming bit of gold is boldly struck with frosty devices that deliver noticeable cameo contrast against the prooflike fields. Swirling hues of yellow and orange-gold accentuate each side, and the corresponding eye appeal is fully gratifying. Population: 5 in 66, 6 finer (5/15).
Ex: Auction '85 (Paramount, 7/1985), lot 1388, which realized $4,620; Harry W. Bass, Jr. Collection, Part II (Bowers and Merena, 10/1999), lot 170.(Registry values: N4719)
