Description

Beautiful 1869 Gold Dollar, MS66

1869 G$1 MS66 PCGS. According to Garrett and Guth (2006): "The 1869 gold dollar is still a scarce coin that is not encountered very often at auction or on the bourse floor. Most of the known coins are well struck, and prooflike surfaces are the norm." The current offering is certainly well struck, and the fields exhibit tremendous, shimmering mint frost. Surface flaws are virtually absent, save for a small disturbance directly above R in DOLLAR. Housed in an earlier PCGS holder with a pale green label. Population: 2 in 66, 11 finer (2/09).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25D5, PCGS# 7568, Greysheet# 8031)
