Description

1870-S Gold Dollar, MS63
Absolute and Condition Rarity

1870-S $1 MS63 NGC. A sharply struck Mint State coin that displays reflective fields and lovely satin luster. Both sides show rich orange-gold color with accents of green and lilac toning. The 1870-S gold dollar is an elusive issue in mint condition, rarely seen in grades finer than AU58. NGC has only certified 35 Mint State examples of the date. NGC incorrectly labeled this piece as an 1870-S silver dollar. Census: 6 in 63, 5 finer (7/19).
