1870-S G$1 MS63 PCGS. With the sole exception of the 1870-S gold dollar, all branch mint issues of the denomination were struck from 1849 through 1861. The San Francisco Mint was the only branch mint that remained open throughout the Civil War, and that facility concentrated on the large double eagles. This diminutive gold piece has brilliant yellow luster with sharp details, reflective fields, and pristine surfaces. Population: 4 in 63, 12 finer (1/13).(Registry values: N2998)
