1870-S G$1 MS65 NGC. The 1870-S gold dollar was the final branch-Mint issue of the denomination, and the first since 1861. Only 3,000 examples were coined, and the survival rate is quite small. Only 124 examples are certified in all grades and NGC and PCGS, combined. Certified grades range from XF40 to MS66, with a mere 18 coins graded below AU58, and only eight graded higher than MS64. This lovely yellow-gold Gem exhibits satiny surfaces and brilliant orange overtones with slightly reflective fields and excellent eye appeal.
