Description

1873 Closed 3 Gold Dollar, MS64
Rare Low-Mintage Type

1873 G$1 Closed 3 MS64 PCGS. CAC. Just 1,800 circulation strikes plus 25 proofs were struck with the Closed 3 logotype, making the variety much more challenging for type than its Open 3 counterpart. This is a semiprooflike near-Gem example, with reflective fields and sharp eye appeal. Only a few tiny marks and light die clashing interrupt the gleaming, yellow-gold surfaces. A CAC-endorsed coin for both its visual merit and technical quality. Population: 7 in 64, 4 finer (1/16).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25DA, PCGS# 7574, Greysheet# 8036)

Weight: 1.67 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
