    1873 Open 3 Gold Dollar, MS67

1873 G$1 Open 3 MS67 PCGS. CAC. This stunning Superb Gem has extraordinary luster with brilliant yellow-gold surfaces that exhibit wisps of orange toning. A bold strike is evident on both sides. The fields are reflective around frosty devices that generate a trace of cameo contrast. Although the PCGS Population Report lists this piece and one finer MS68 specimen, the finest PCGS examples recorded in recent auctions grade just MS66. Only one other comparable piece, graded MS67 NGC, has appeared in recent auctions. That piece appeared in our April 2011 Central States sale and reappeared in a Teletrade sale in October 2012. Population: 1 in 67, 1 finer (3/13).(Registry values: N1)
