Description

Beautiful 1874 Gold Dollar, MS67

1874 G$1 MS67 PCGS. The 1874 issue is one of the most common dates for gold dollars, with several thousand pieces having been certified by PCGS and NGC. Superb Gems such as the current offering are another matter entirely, as the two services have seen fewer than 80 specimens in this grade. Beautiful frosty luster endows its impeccably preserved brass-gold surfaces. The design elements exhibit sharp definition except that only the L of LIBERTY shows, a standard characteristic of the issue. Jeff Garrett and Ron Guth (2006) attribute this to die deterioration. Population: 33 in 67, 0 finer (9/09).(Registry values: N2998)
