    Description

One of 400 Business Strike 1875
    Gold Dollars, MS63

1875 G$1 MS63 PCGS. Gold coinage at the Philadelphia Mint in 1875 had a laserlike focus on double eagles. Doubtless the facility produced more double eagles in one day than it did all other gold denominations combined; there were no business strike 1875 three dollar gold coins, only 100 such eagles, and just 200 half eagles. By those standards, the 400 coins struck for the gold dollar and quarter eagle seem downright generous. This is a well-defined (though not too well-defined) Select example of the business strike, pale yellow with watery but incomplete reflectivity in amply lustrous fields. Population: 4 in 63, 16 finer (9/11).(Registry values: N4719)

    Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25DD, PCGS# 7576)

    Weight: 1.67 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
