1881 G$1 MS65 PCGS. A wonderful Gem housed in a green-label PCGS holder, this fully prooflike 1881 gold dollar has brilliant yellow surfaces with a splash of coppery-orange toning on the headdress. The mintage totaled 7,620 business strikes, and the issue was hoarded in the late 19th century. Q. David Bowers writes in A Guide Book of Gold Dollars that "groups and clusters of this date remained intact until the 1950s and 1960s."(Registry values: N1793)
