Marvelous MS68 1882 Gold Dollar
1882 G$1 MS68 PCGS. CAC. The 1882 gold dollar saw a stingy production amounting to only 5,000 pieces, a token amount that was likely made to prevent the 125 proofs made from becoming overnight sensations. This Superb Gem example is completely struck on the obverse, yet the reverse shows the most minor softness on portions of the wreath. The surfaces are light greenish-gold and beam with intense coruscating luster. This marvelous coin is well-suited for a type or date set, as it is one of only nine such pieces certified at PCGS; there are, as expected, none finer (5/10).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25DL, PCGS# 7583, GSID# 8045)
