Description

    1883 Gold Dollar, MS68
    None Certified Finer at PCGS

1883 G$1 MS68 PCGS. A nominal business-strike mintage of 10,800 gold dollars was achieved in 1883, but only a small percentage of this total ever reached circulation. The issue was well-produced, and most examples seen are attractive Mint State specimens, often with prooflike surfaces. The coin offered here stands out as one of the finest survivors of this high-quality issue, with razor-sharp definition on all design elements and virtually pristine greenish-gold surfaces. The fields display prooflike reflectivity in most areas, but the surfaces have more of a satiny quality than the proofs of this year, which typically exhibit the classic orange peel texture. This coin represents a combination of tremendous eye appeal and incredibly high technical quality and should find a home in a fine collection or Registry Set. Housed in a green label holder. Population: 9 in 68, 0 finer (5/12).(Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 25DM, PCGS# 7584)

    Weight: 1.67 grams

    Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
