Description

1884 Gold Dollar, MS67
Superlative Type Coin

1884 G$1 MS67 PCGS. CAC. Only 5,230 business strikes of this issue were produced, along with 1,006 proofs. For whatever reason, the gold dollars of the 1880s were made as nicely as any coins ever minted by our government. This prooflike example is needle-sharp. A glittering, semi-reflective jewel that would be hard to improve upon at any price. A few slender die striations (as struck) are seen on the obverse, including several on Liberty's cheek, but there are no handling marks or blemishes to be found. The bright surfaces have a light coating of milky patina in the fields, which does little to diminish the coin's dramatic reflectivity. A marvelous Superb Gem, with exceptional eye appeal. Population: 18 in 67 (1 in 67+), 8 finer. CAC: 15 in 67, 5 finer (9/24).
