Description

Wonderful 1884 Gold Dollar, MS67

1884 G$1 MS67 PCGS. An absolutely splendid Superb Gem example of this low-mintage gold dollar from near the series' end, which would occur only five years later, in 1889. The emission of 1884 gold dollars was only 5,200 coins, but it appears that numerous examples were saved by collectors and coin dealers of the era, as examples are available, for a price, even up to MS68. This wonderful coin boasts pristine, prooflike surfaces with orange-gold patina, no relevant post-strike contact, and enormous eye appeal. A small raised die line is noted near Liberty's jawline, as struck. Population: 14 in 67, 5 finer (3/09).(Registry values: N2998)
