Description

1885 Gold Dollar, MS67+
Flashy High-End Example, CAC

1885 G$1 MS67+ NGC. CAC. Peach-gold and lime-green compete for territory across this lustrous and frosty low mintage type coin. Pristine aside from a solitary small tick on the cheek, the textures and colors swirl into a magnificent cartwheel effect that delivers exceptional eye appeal. The ER in LIBERTY is essentially absent, caused at the mint when the two low relief letters were inadvertently lapped off a working obverse die. CAC approval confirms the quality of this Superb Gem, and combined reporting from NGC and PCGS shows only ten finer examples (3/25). Census: 30 in 67 (4 in 67+, 2 in 67 ), 7 finer. CAC: 12 in 67, 1 finer (3/25).
