Memorable MS68 1885 Gold Dollar
1885 G$1 MS68 NGC. This is a marvelous Type Three gold dollar in virtually the highest numeric grade known for the issue (save for eight wonder coins that NGC has certified MS69). MS68 is the finest grade known for the 1885, and this piece is one of four so certified at NGC (9/09). The canary-yellow surfaces of this amazing piece are memorably smooth, and a few raised die polishing die lines are seen near RIC on the obverse. The fields are bright and semireflective on each side. The reverse shows light clash marks.(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25DP, PCGS# 7586, Greysheet# 8048)
