Description

1886 Gold Dollar, MS66+
Rarely Seen Finer

1886 G$1 MS66+ PCGS. The 1886 gold dollar boasts a low mintage of 5,000 pieces. There was no great demand for the coins in commerce, so the issue did not circulate to any great extent, and high-grade examples are not too difficult to locate. The issue is rare at the Premium Gem level, however, and examples in higher grades are virtually unobtainable. This Plus-graded Premium Gem is sharply detailed throughout, with pleasing orange-gold surfaces that show few signs of contact. The fields show a mix of satiny luster and prooflike reflectivity. Population: 24 in 66 (4 in 66+), 8 finer (9/24).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 25DR, PCGS# 7587, Greysheet# 8049)
