Description
Gem Quality 1887 Gold Dollar
1887 G$1 MS 65 PCGS. Although the Philadelphia Mint delivered only 7,500 gold dollars in 1887, this date is among the more easily obtainable issues of this type. Unlike most extant 1887 gold dollars, this coin does not display a prooflike finish. The surfaces are, however, nicely frosted with an even endowment of orange-gold patina. The devices are crisply defined, and a trivial abrasion in the upper left obverse field is all that separates this otherwise clean example from an even higher grade. From the David & Jeannie Cheung Collection.
