Description

1888 Gold Dollar, MS67
Impressive Luster and Patina

1888 G$1 MS67 PCGS. This exactingly struck and fully lustrous Superb Gem contains hints of lime patina complemented by more extensive lemon-gold iridescence. The RT in LIBERTY is weak, as made from a lapped obverse die. The 1888 is regarded as a type coin in high grades. However, the date has little more than half the mintage of the 1889, and appears to have been set aside in lesser numbers as well.
