Description

1889 Gold Dollar, Lustrous MS68
Final Year of Issue

1889 G$1 MS68 NGC. The 1889 gold dollar has a high survival rate, probably due to its status as the last year of the type and the end of the gold dollar as a circulating denomination. Small hoards of the date have turned up with regularity over recent decades. Superb Gems are somewhat scarce, and finer examples are rare. Blazing luster emanates from both sides of this near-immaculate MS68 example. The design elements are well-defined. Census: 19 in 68, 0 finer (10/13).(Registry values: N4719)
