1889 G$1 MS68 PCGS. Just eight examples are certified by
PCGS as MS68, with none finer by either PCGS or NGC, making this
Superb Gem among the finest of the final-year gold dollars -- a
denomination that started out as a workhorse of American commerce,
then faded in importance until the last hurrah of 29,000 pieces
struck were struck in 1889. The present coin is a candidate for the
finest collection, with razor-sharp definition and incredibly deep,
frosty luster. Exceptional honey-gold coloration blankets both
sides. A few microscopic freckles provide the pedigree markers to
identify this jewel-like gold dollar for posterity. Population: 8
