Description

George II Proof Halfpenny 1729, S-3717, Peck-832 (R), PR63 BN NGC, a lovely example of this copper proof, given the 63 grade, perhaps, because of a number of very tiny abrasions surrounding the figure of Britannia, but these are so small as to appear to the naked eye to be nothing more than the texture of the metal. Strike is a perfect proof impression, with broad high rims. Surface mirrors glitter. Color is a rich mahogany brown with lovely blue iridescence formed on top, on both sides, adding to the considerable eye appeal of this beauty. The 1729 proof halfpenny is known in two varieties, with and without a dot or stop after the king's name. This one has the stop. Rare, and a very desirable early proof for the lover of coppers.

Metal: Copper
Weight: 0.75g
