Description

George IV Proof Crown 1826 PR62 PCGS, KM699 (Rare), S-3806, ESC-2336 (R), L&S-28. SEPTIMO edge. Mintage: 150. A popular Proof-only crown referred to by both Bull and Linecar and Stone as a pattern, although it clearly belongs to George's contested coronation set. A fitting debut to William Wyon's 'bare head' portrait, a quick tilt of the coin under good light reveals waves of blush and eggplant tone punctuated by flints of gold and amber. Admittedly bound in its designation by some wisps in the fields and a small contact mark above the king's eye, this otherwise remains a fully charming representative of a challenging type.

Metal: Silver
Diameter: 37mm
