Charles II gold 5 Guineas 1682 AU (Altered Surfaces), KM444.1, S-3332. 37mm. 41.51gm. QVARTO edge. Admirably struck for this widely popular and regularly unattainable denomination, producing crisp, clear detail that appears only minimally impacted by circulation. Though apparently "sweated" (a process used to extract gold bullion from circulating coinage), resulting in a loss of surface luster, the offering maintains a decisive collector appeal, both due to the rarity of its denomination and the presentable quality of the devices, rendering this a very rare opportunity to procure a nearly uncirculated representative without breaking into vastly higher price territory.Ex.
