Description

Commonwealth gold Unite 1653, S-3208, almost XF with quite a bit of obverse luster remaining. At one point, this coin had been bent, but has since been straightened. The inscriptions are a first for English coins, as Spink notes: "these coins have inscriptions in English instead of Latin, which was considered to savour too much of popery". These coins asked God to be with us, instead of saying that in God we trust...interesting.
