Description

Commonwealth Shilling 1654, S-3217, XF, although cleaned at some time, it has still pleasantly retoned back. This is a most interesting coin with heavy evidence of having been struck at least 3 times, especially the reverse. The obverse has tripling in its design--all very close together. The lettering of the reverse has slight evidence of the triple striking, but the harp seems to have been struck widely apart. There also appears to be some straight lines that don't fit with the original design.
