Edward III (1327-1377) gold Noble ND (1361-1369) MS61 NGC, Tower mint, Cross Potent mm, Treaty Period, S-1503, N-1232, Schneider-87. (annulet) ЄD | WΛRD: DЄI: GRΛ: RЄX: ΛnGL': DnS: hyB' x Z (retrograde) x ΛQ | T' (double saltire stops), Edward crowned, standing facing in ship, sword in right hand, shield in left / + IhC: ΛVTЄm: TRΛnSIЄnS: PЄR: mЄDIV: ILLORVm: IBAT (double saltire stops), large floriate cross with Є at center, crowned lions in angles, all within polylobe with trefoils in spandrels. Produced during the Treaty of Brétigny wherein Edward III dropped his claim to the French throne and thus omitted his French title from his coins. A tad soft on the strike though maintaining all important attributes, tangerine toning in the reverse crevices. Appreciable in Mint State.
