Description

Glorious Top Pop 1726 Crown

George Crown 1726 MS64 NGC, KM545.1, S-3639A, ESC-1548 (R2). DECIMO TERTIO edge. Plumes and roses in angles. The final George I Crown issue that, until 1726, had not been produced since 1723, and the Crown for that year was of the "South Sea Company" variety. This is one of the best English Crowns this cataloger has handled, as is confirmed by its sole Top Pop status at NGC. In fact, this is one of only two Mint State selections at NGC, the other being the MS63 Eternal Collection specimen that we sold for just under $30,000 at the beginning of the year. The surfaces of the current coin on offer are immaculate, bursting with baby blue and champagne tone that is ignited by a bed of luster beneath the patination. Very minute evidence of flan adjustment on the obverse, but altogether imperceptible while viewing the coin as a whole in hand.
