Description

George II Crown 1734 MS63+ NGC, KM575.1, S-3686, ESC-1662 (R). Roses and Plumes reverse. Absolutely superior with regard both to its overall strike and visual allure, expressing George II's features in a matter that is virtually never seen on his younger bust Crowns. Recorded in the 1751 inventory of an old British collection according to our consignor, the fact that this coin's beauty was recognized during George's reign leading to its careful storage by an adept collector is truly telling in and of itself. Presently situated at the very peak of the certified population by virtue of its added "plus" designation, we have only ever offered one other example of this date previously, which was a mere XF45 by comparison. Simply a coin for which words cannot do justice, and one we encourage all prospective bidders to view in hand.
