Description

George III Counterstamped Bank of England Dollar ND (c. 1797) MS62 PCGS, KM638, ESC-129, S-3765A. Counterstamp on a 1795 Mo-FM Mexican 8 Reales. An unusually choice example of this emergency issue, boldly counterstamped over a highly original Mexican host, with surfaces blanketed in rich olive-brown tone that becomes multicolored and iridescent when angled beneath a light. Very few marks are observed for the grade as well, with a single die crack that runs from the I in GRATIA into the field to the right of Charles' portrait adding a touch of character to the surfaces. Easily among the finest we've encountered of this compelling and historic type.
