Description

George III Proof Crown 1818, S-3787, LVIII edge, lightly impaired with faint scratches and also carefully cleaned. Proofs of this period can be deceptive, and there exist some questionable pieces that even experts argue about, but this specimen possesses sharpness in its tiny details that are characteristic of proofs. The mirrors, although brilliant and indeed flashy and quite appealing, nonetheless have been carefully cleaned, making it difficult to assess this coin's desirability or to wax ecstatic about it. Very rare and valuable as such.
